kuantan airport review and guides

REVIEW ON KUANTAN AIRPORT

located at the outskirt of Kuantan town , the kuantan airport is one of the regional ( or domestic airport as what they say in Malaysia..) in the east coast of peninsular Malaysia. Better known as the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah airport , this small airport's layout is very simple.

Let's start..

1. Check-in Counter,Flights and route.
The check-in counter in Kuantan Aiport is very simple. As you can see the airport's check-in counter is quite old-fashion but checking-in is a breeze.

Unlike check-in process in KLIA,which the security scanning was done after checking-in, at Kuantan aiport the security scanning is done once before checking-in and another one after boarding the gate. Just like the one in LCCT and Penang International Aiport.

Currently, Kuantan ( KUA) is served by 3 airlines namely Malaysia Airlines(MH) , Firefly and Southern China Airlines which only serves KUA with charter flights from Taipei Taoyuan Airport.

Anyway, ... back on Malaysia Airlines.. MH only served Kuantan-Kuala Lumpur ( KLIA) route thrice daily. The Kuantan-KLIA route is a very short route ( about 45 minutes) so Malaysia Airlines only fly a small Boeing 737-400 to this route.Firefly airlines also operate a few flights weekly from Changi Budget Terminal to Kuantan.

Air Asia also once flew into KUA with daily flights from the LCCT Terminal KL,but it was later suspended.Other suspended flights also include the Penang-Kuantan and Kuantan-Subang route ( operated by Firefly Airlines).

As the airport experience a lot of traffic movements in recent years, the airport departure and arrival information now is informed to the public using LCD and plasma screen just like other airport in Malaysia.

2.Boarding gate and etc
There are just 2 simple boarding gate in this airport, the domestic one and international one. Previously, the international boarding gate was used by tourists to board direct chartered flights to Frankfurt or Paris but on daily basis, the only airline that use this boarding gate is the Firefly Airlines which serve the Singapore route.

Domestic boarding gate is currently used by Malaysia Airlines which serve KUA with it's thrice daily flights to KLIA.

The main terminal is rather simple. If you're flying into Kuantan soon, you'll find everything once you exit the arrival gate. There are various car rental services providers for your convinence and to get to the city centre or your hotel, there taxis and limos provided at the terminal.

And as for muslim, prayer rooms are provided at the left end of the terminal once you've exit the arrival gate.

If you're planning to fly into Kuantan soon, I hope that this help you... see you soon..
later
